Trojan Horses
Most of us have heard the story of the Trojan horse. Briefly, in Greek mythology, the Achaeans waged the Trojan War against the city of Troy after Paris of Troy stole Helen from her husband Menelaus, the king of Sparta. The battle outside Troy raged for ten years. The men were fed up and wanted to return to their homes. Athene, goddess of war gave Ulysses the idea for a plan to end the war by building a large wooden horse.
Once the statue had been built, a number of the Greek warriors, along with Odysseus, climbed inside. The rest of the Greek fleet sailed away, so as to deceive the Trojans.
One man, Sinon, was left behind. When the Trojans came to marvel at the huge creation, Sinon pretended to be angry with the Greeks, stating that they had deserted him. He assured the Trojans that the wooden horse was safe and would bring luck to the Trojans.
That night, after most of Troy was asleep or in a drunken stupor, Sinon let the Greek warriors out from the horse, and they slaughtered the Trojans.
Surprisingly this story has a lot of symbolism for our everyday lives. Just like the Trojan horse with hidden soldiers in it, we have behaviors or energetic patterns that are hidden from our conscious mind or awareness. We react to situations, events or people based on these conditioned responses or Trojan horses. We do not respond to the moment but come from a place that is not for our highest good or the highest good of those involved.
Have you ever walked away from a situation and wondered why you reacted the way you did or questioned why your reaction seemed so out of proportion for what just happened? If you have then you know exactly what I am talking about. Maybe if you have not seen this behavior in yourself you have seen it in someone else. Remember these are hidden patterns so we may not see them in ourselves first. However, until we do we cannot change them.
We are conditioned to react to certain events, situations or people based on these patterns. We operate from preconditioned responses, which are created in different ways through our DNA (genetics’), social conditioning and life experiences. Once habituated, we automatically respond to situations in our lives from this conditioned place.
If you read last month’s article “What is your MASTER goal in life?” and you’ve chosen to step on the path of change and let go of those things that no longer support your happiness; then becoming aware of these conditioned patterns will help you create a life that supports your soul’s desire and not the ego’s. This will allow you to BE a happier and more joyful person, which is your birthright.
You may have heard the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, expecting to get a different result.
The problem in the world today is not economic, political or religious. You may feel strongly that it is based on the current situation in this country. However, the situations in our personal lives and in this country --even the entire world-- has nothing to do with what others have done. The problem in the world today is a spiritual problem. What is happening in this country and the world is a reflection of what has been gestating inside each one of us for generations. We can no longer live in a world that lives by the credo "He who has to most toys wins." A profit-driven society is destined to die because we are --at the very core –loving, spiritual beings. We must first come from this place and express our divinity and our soul’s desires. We must give, not take.
If you are feeling fear right now because of the current economic situation in this country then you are not living in the light. Coming from fear will only help feed the current situation energetically and create more suffering.
Instinctively we know when we make a wrong choice. Therefore, the only solution to the problems in the world is that we must each take responsibility for our own happiness by choosing rightly. We can no longer blame the government, another country or someone else’s beliefs for our misery. We must honestly look at our own beliefs and open up to the truth that resides in our hearts. We must seek out our own Trojan horses and begin to be who we really are, the being you have always wanted to be, the one that has been trying to get out since you were born. Ultimately, there is no other choice than to be and express the divinity that you are. Until we do, there will be pain and suffering.
